Flexicare is offered by Auto and General and administered by Discovery Health. It was introduced to provide quality, affordable access to primary healthcare for employees who are unable to access medical scheme benefits.
Flexicare leverages the combined expertise of Discovery Health and Auto and General to provide a truly innovative, integrated healthcare product to complement the existing healthcare solutions available to employees.
Flexicare offers your employees access to essential day-to-day benefits through high-quality, private healthcare providers in the Discovery Health network.
Based on affordability and the healthcare needs of your employees, you are also able to increase the level of emergency cover offered through the optional Trauma benefits.
Extending cover to dependants
Your team members have the choice to include their spouses and dependents in Flexicare.
When enrolling, your employee will need to provide the names and ID numbers of their dependents in order to add them to the policy. If dependents are not included in the policy at the same time as the employee, they must be added within 60 days of the start date of the employer group cover. Following this, a three-month general waiting period will be applied. During this period, a dependent will not be able to claim for any healthcare services under Flexicare.
Newborns can be added to the policy without undergoing underwriting if they are included within 90 days of birth.
Employees or dependents with a voluntary break in cover of more than 30 days will be subject to a three-month general waiting period upon rejoining.
There is no limit to the number of children that can be covered by the policy. Each child will be charged separately and can remain on Flexicare as long as they are financially dependent on the employee. Child dependents who reach the age of 21 will be charged adult rates from the month following their birthday.

Through the use of cutting-edge digital technology, Discovery Health is able to streamline and minimize associated mobile data expenses.

WELLNESS EXPERIENCE
Discovery wellness experience.
When an employer opts to offer Flexicare to their employees, they grant them access to the comprehensive Discovery Wellness Experience. This encompasses a holistic range of wellness screenings, such as BMI, blood pressure, cholesterol, blood glucose, and HIV testing. Additionally, the Discovery Wellness Experience includes a lifestyle and wellness assessment, as well as a personalized session with a wellness specialist.
To qualify for the Discovery Wellness Experience, employers must have a minimum of 30 employees per site, and the program is accessible once a year.
